RESUMO

Os autores apresentam um caso clinico de carcinoma timico, num bomem de 57 anos, préviamente saudável, que foi enviado á consulta externa de Pneumologia do Hospital de S. João. O doente foi referenciado para estudo de imagem hipotransparenre pulmonar, parahilar esquerda, detectada em telerradiografia de torax efectuada por rotina.

A propósito do caso clinico fazem-se algumas consideraçães sobre neoplasias tímicas, nomeadamente o carcinoma tímico, no que diz respeito à sua raridade, diagnóstico, evolução, terapêutica e prognóstico.

ABSTRACT

The authors present a case report of thymic carcinoma in a previously healthy 57 years old man, who after the detection of a left parahilar lung opacity on a routine chest X-Ray, was refered to the Pneumology Department of Hospital S. João.

The article focuses on several aspects of thymic neoplasms, particulary on thouse related to thymic carcinoma concerning, its rarity, diagnose, clinical course, therapeutics and prognosis.
