RESUMO

A autora faz uma revisão sobre a influência do envelhecimento na função pulmonar e sobre as adaptações do aparelho respiratório ao exercício fisico. Salienta, ainda, a importância de uma actividade física regular na prevenção do declínio da "performance" cardiopulmonar que surge com o decorrer dos anos.

ABSTRACT

The author review the aging influence on pulmonary function and the respiratory system adaptations to physical exercise. It is emphasized the importance of regular physical activity on the prevention of the natural decline on cardiopulmonary performance with aging.
