This work can range from peer-reviewed original articles to review articles, editorials, and opinion articles. The journal is printed in English, and is freely available in its web page as well as in Medline and other databases.

As sociedades científicas respiratórias europeia e americana (ERS e ATS) constituíram um grupo de trabalho sobre a “Avaliação dos resultados nos ensaios clínicos na DPOC: da função pulmonar aos marcadores biológicos” para informar a comunidade de investigadores em DPOC sobre o possível uso e limitações dos resultados obtidos e marcadores usados actualmente na avaliação do impacto da terapêutica farmacológica. Com base na revisão da literatura, este documento aborda diferentes secções que avaliam marcadores e resultados específicos: função pulmonar; resultados centrados no doente; exacerbações; nortalidade; impacto social e económico; exames de imagem; marcadores não pulmonares; mínima diferença clinicamente significativa; marcadores biológicos.
